Lagenaria siceraria
The bottle gourd Snake, also known as snake gourd, is an unusual gourd variety that stands out due to its long, snake-like fruits. This variety is both decorative and useful - its fruits are long, thin and curved and often reach a length of 1 to 1.5 metres. They have a smooth, green skin and a unique, curved shape reminiscent of a snake. The plants are vigorous and climbing, needing plenty of space to grow. They have large, green leaves and white flowers. The flesh is firm and can be used like courgettes if the fruit is harvested young. Older fruits are often used for decorative purposes or to make containers and musical instruments.
